Spotlight, Review. Teasers, Excerpt & Giveaway: Reaper's Fall (Reapers MC #5) by Joanna Wylde

Book Blurb & Info

The New York Times bestselling author of Reaper’s Stand is back in her “uber-alpha rough world of MCs”* as one woman’s future is rocked by the man whose hardcore past could destroy her…

He never meant to hurt her.

Levi “Painter” Brooks was nothing before he joined the Reapers motorcycle club. The day he patched in, they became his brothers and his life. All they asked in return was a strong arm and unconditional loyalty—a loyalty that’s tested when he’s caught and sentenced to prison for a crime committed on their behalf.

Melanie Tucker may have had a rough start, but along the way she’s learned to fight for her future. She’s escaped from hell and started a new life, yet every night she dreams of a biker whose touch she can’t forget. It all started out so innocently—just a series of letters to a lonely man in prison. Friendly. Harmless. Safe.

Now Painter Brooks is coming home… and Melanie’s about to learn that there’s no room for innocence in the Reapers MC.

Reaper’s Fall is the newest standalone in the Reaper's MC Series. Painter & Melanie's story is FINALLY here!

“You want to watch a movie or something?” she asked, nodding toward the TV. I had a decent one, too. Giant-ass flat-screen—homecoming present from the club.
“Sure,” I said, reaching for the remote. I didn’t have cable, but Ruger had set up some kind of box thingie for me so I could stream shit. “Whatcha in the mood for?”
“Not horror,” she said quickly, and I laughed again, remembering that first evening I’d spent with her at Pic’s house. She’d been so young and scared and vulnerable . . . I’d wanted to eat her up.
I still wanted to eat her.
“I can’t believe that you and Puck were supposed to be watching over me, and then you put in a slasher movie. That’s not how you make a girl feel safe.”
“No horror,” I agreed, although the thought of holding her for a couple hours while she was scared shitless appealed way more than it should. Watch it, asshole. “How about Star Wars?”
“You like Star Wars?”
I shrugged. “Everyone likes Star Wars. You know, I’m pretty damned sure Han Solo was a biker.”
She giggled. “You mean, like a space biker?”
“See, when you say it like that it sounds stupid.”
“I wanted to be Princess Leia. She’s badass,” she said, taking a deep drink of her beer. I watched as her lips wrapped around the neck, her throat swallowing. Oh fuck, that was good. She set the beer down on the coffee table with a clink, then let loose with the biggest burp I’d ever heard.
“Fucking hell,” I said, stunned. “I didn’t think girls could burp like that. Shit. Impressive, Mel. Very impressive.”
She grinned at me.
“We’re friends,” she told me. “And friends don’t need to worry about stuff like that. Let me guess—you’ve never had a female friend before?”
“Not really,” I admitted. “I’m think I’m a little scared.”
Scared and turned on, which was weird.
“You should be. I can do the whole alphabet.”

Damn. I kinda wanted to see that.

Review

Vrooom…….vroooom!!! Time to hop on a Reaper's Harley and review Joanna Wild’s newest Reapers MC book, Reaper’s Fall. This is Melanie and Painter’s story.

Painter has been painted (pun intended *grin*) as a manwhore in past books and we’ve always knows that Melanie has an uber crush on him but there was so much more going on that we didn’t know and Joanna shines a light on this couple like never before.

Melanie and Painter’s relationship goes back about 5+ years and their friendship really blossomed when Painter was in prison with Puck. Melanie is a friend of a friend (London's actually) of the MC club and has always had a huge crush on Painter. When Painter gets sent to prison because he took a fall for his club, Melanie wrote to him constantly until he got out. Their relationship was super innocent, at least on her side. Him, not so much. He had dark, adult feelings for the young college girl but kept them under wraps until he got out of the clink, thinking he would claim her when he got out but then he had second thoughts and pulled back, which of course damaged their fragile friendship. As time moved on, the two found their way back to each other and the feels came out resulting in a kid.

You’d think that that’s where their HEA might start but fate has other ideas and the two are torn apart again. History is about to repeat itself again! Will Painter choose his new family or his club??? You'll have to read it to find out and it might not be what you think *evil cackle*

The beginning of the book (the prologue) grips you right off the get-go, I mean, who doesn’t love a bar fight. Although this is a great scene and it does tell the reader where the characters currently are (they have a kid and are broken up) but then chapter one and so on turns back the clock to relive their relationship from the beginning. This brings current fans up to date and introduces new readers to the characters.

For those who don’t know, Painter isn’t the most likable character, he’s basically a total a-hole d-bag who has pissed fans off for a while and his story is no exception, he hasn’t really changed although he does break out the redemption later on (a little too late if you ask me but I digress). Melanie, well she’s a bit of a wet blanket. She’s fairly meek in the beginning and sort of a fan-girl of Painter until she finds a spine……. again later on. I say this because if you’re not a fan of a romance with a meek fan-girl heroine and an a-hole manwhore d-bag hero, this might not be your book but if you are a fan of the series, you gotta read this one!

With all that being said, I have read the entire series thus far and I did enjoy these two and their unconventional love story. It’s got some super sexy scenes, some self-prison-love steam (holy crap!) and all the nitty gritty MC foul mouth dirty talk you could ever want from your MC romance book. Although you can read this as a stand-alone, I personally did find the layout of the book a bit redundant and at times confusing but it was nice to get a refresher and fill in some of the gaps.  All in all, a definite must for MC fans!!!
