The intimidating, tattooed Russian operates one of the most elite mixed-martial arts training centers in the world but it’s his shadowy past and reputed connections with Houston’s underworld that interest her most.

Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala

Erin needs help finding her sister Ruby. She doesn’t want to but she feels she has no choice. She has to ask Ivan Markovic for help. She enters his gym against her friends’ wishes knowing that Ivan is a dangerous man but may be her only hope.

Ivan has built his gym and MMA fighting program from the ground up. His reputation is important. He has changed his life and doesn’t want to go back. When the petite woman walks into his gym his life is forever changed. He agrees to find Erin’s sister.

The situation is more than Erin expected, Ruby and her boyfriend are being hunted by the Hermano gang and the Albanian mob. Ivan forms a soft spot for Erin and decides to protect her. Her life is now in danger when she comes face to face with the Albanians. Ivan claims her as his own to protect her.

Erin and Ivan race against the mob and the gang to find Ruby before they kill her. They also grow closer as they search. Erin is afraid of what she will find when she finally finds her sister.

This is the first book in the My Russian Protector Series. The group of Russian men this series center around is intriguing. Ivan is the first and I liked how he is introduced. The storyline is the perfect way to start the series. Unfortunately I wish it was longer. The author threw a lot at the reader in a quick succession. I would have liked more time for the story to evolve and to get to know the characters. Erin and Ivan had a great chemistry from the start and I felt it was too rushed. Erin basically threw herself at him. That didn’t jive with how her character came across. Too many contradictions present because I feel the story was too short. More time could have given the author the opportunity to weave an excellent story any reader could enjoy. I give this book a 3 out of 5.
