Up in Flames (Rosemary Beach, #13)Up in Flames by Abbi Glines
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

hmmmmmm, not sure how to rate this one..... so I'll give it 2.5 stars. it's the middle of the road which is where I am with this book.

Here’s why:
As you know, if you follow this series, Nan/Nanette has been painted as the villain since the beginning. She’s been a very strong character since the beginning of the books. We know that she is the way she is because she feels unloved and just needs a good hug *just kidding* but seriously, she acts out because she's the daughter of a rockstar father who doesn't want her and really, only her brother gives two s-hits about her. At every turn, Nan has always chosen the wrong way to act towards people and ends up just making everything worse but you never feel sorry for her. In fact you usually just want to slap the heck out of her more than anything.

In this book, we're supposed to finally get Nan's story and her HEA but what we get is more of a convoluted romantic suspense story that I think is possibly setting up a new series and by the end, I didn't care about anyone or anything let alone the heroes or Nan.

The story is mainly told from Nan and Major's POV but towards the end we get many POV's due to some major events (pun intended).

Major (hero #1) is a total playboy that can't keep it zipped. We are treated to his pervy POV and get to experience his manwhore ways through his eyes. He also has Nan on the side until she has had enough of his antics and takes off to Vegas where she meets Gannon (fake name and hero #2). Gannon is the Alpha-Dom-ass who decides Nan needs a firm hand until Major works his way back into her life......wait, what???

Yeah you heard me, Gannon and Major are coworkers. Gannon is Major's boss and the two are spying/trying to keep Nan safe but also lying to her and trying to get info out of her about an old flame of hers. So their solution is to plant Major in her life, have him woo her but the problem is that Major is a manwhore and can't stay faithful, so Nan kicks him to the curb thus in walks Gannon but he's also a plant. The two toy with Nan’s heart by lying and trying to stay close to her at the same time yet they both say they are falling for her for reals, just uggggggg!

Yeah it's totally convoluted and you kinda feel sorry for Nan who's being played by these men but then again, it's Nan and by this point, you could care less.

As you can tell, I wasn't a fan but as the end of the series that I’ve loved for a long time, I had to read it but now I'm kinda happy it's over.

Moving on.....
