Review: Witches (Runes #4) by Ednah Walters

Book Blurb

The Norns think they’ve won,
but it’s hard to control a teenager,
let alone a powerful one…

Raine Cooper’s life should be perfect. She’s an Immortal Seeress, most likely to be elected Prom Queen, and envied by the girls at Kayville High for dating the dreamy quarterback, Torin St. James. Instead, she’s haunted by the smug facial expressions the Norns’ wore during their last meeting.

As a Norn-In-Training, Raine crossed the line long ago when she sided with the Valkyries and Mortal Witches. When the Norns return with demands of their own, Raine feels trapped. Torin tries to convince her that the Norns are manipulating her, but she refuses to listen. At least until the Norns’ demands focus on someone she loves. When Raine refuses to cooperate with them, their punishment is swift and gut-wrenching, turning her pain into fury.

Raine plots revenge on a massive scale and makes deals with unsavory allies. Her goal? Total destruction of the entire Norn race. Raine’s only hope of salvation is Torin, but how much will he sacrifice to save her?

Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala

Raine and her friends have defeated Torin’s father and the evil Norns.  Raine, Cora and Ingrid continue with their lessons.  Torin and Andris are scoping out Carson, California. Raine’s mom is back to being a Valkyrie.  Her dad is doing better.  So Raine is learning about her powers as a witch.  She is worried about the Norns manipulating her.  She refuses to stop helping people.  Goddess Freya gives her a cat to help.
Things start getting complicated.  Norns are getting pushy, Raine’s visions are bigger and she is trying to figure out ways to make things right.  Raine doesn’t trust Torin’s father, she is trying to help Beau and keep ahead of all sides so she gets to make the choice about her life when she turns eighteen.
Torin, her friends and family are helping the best they can as Raine fights for what she wants her life to be.
I love this series.  I also liked that Cora’s book was written alongside this one.  It was fun to remember things that happened but from Raine’s point of view.  There is so much happening for her.  I definitely don’t envy her situation.  Too many people want her on their side.
I love Torin and her group of friends.  They are great characters and I always like finding out what they are up to next. They stand beside her and help her any way they can.  I love the support system she has.
I loved what happened with Torin and Raine’s relationship.  They did everything in secret so Norns couldn’t stop things.  I want a Torin St. James.  He is sigh worthy and they make a perfect couple.

One of my favorite series and this book is a great addition.  I give it a 4.5 out of 5.
