Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala

Sara and Jordan have left the Mohiri base together with a plan to find Madeline.  Sara has to do this.  She refuses to let Nikolas hide her away.  Sara and Jordan sneak away with help from friends, then meet up with Roland and Peter.  Using intel from Sara’s friend David, they meet a demon named Kelvan.  Kelvan and David become vital to Sara’s quest for her mother.  Sara goes against seasoned vampires, powerful warlocks, and all species of demons.  She refuses to tell Nikolas where she is until she has found Madeline.
She is getting better at using her powers and outsmarting her opponents.  She has been showing kindness to the demon community and they are responding to her.  She feels like she is helping the cause.
Nikolas is called when Sara falls ill during her Liannan.  Her cousin Eldeorin comes to her rescue as she suffers through it.  The group finds themselves staying in Eldeorin’s house in Santa Cruz as the search for Madeline continues.  Eldeorin and Aine take up Sara’s training of her Fae powers while Nikolas resumes training her to fight.
Sara enters the war in more ways than she thought.  She fights her insecurities while accepting her feelings for Nikolas.  When she finally accomplishes what she has set out to do she is shocked at what she finds.  She has to believe in her powers and what she feels to save the ones that she loves from the Master Vampire that hunts her.
I love this series.  Both Sara and Nikolas are beloved characters.  Reading the journey they traveled to find each other is one of my favorites.  Sara is one of a kind in who and what she is.  That makes the story even better.  No one knows what to expect.  She is independent and stubborn.  Her heart is big and she cares for the innocent caught in the middle.  I love how the author rewards her for her kindness later in the story.  The kindness comes full circle.

This book had everything.  There were battles between good and evil, love, friendship, disappointments, personal journeys and family.  There is something for everyone.  I am sad to see Sara and Nikolas’ story end but the build up was awesome throughout the series.  The ending was shocking and exactly how the series needed to end with Sara reaching her potential for those she loves.  The two are a perfect match.  I give this book a 5 out of 5.
