Book Blurb

Winter, I know your ex hurt you, but I'm not him. I can love you; let me...

Winter Bennett is on the worst date of her life, so she decides to bail and go home to her true loves: take out and Netflix. On her way out of the door, she spots her ex-boyfriend with his hot, new girl. Horrified at the thought of being seen, Winter does what any sane woman would do; she bolts into the bathroom and out the back window.

Falling smack-dab in the middle of a sting operation wasn't part of the plan, but that’s exactly what happened. And now, bullets are flying overhead. Thankfully, a sexy NYPD homicide detective by the name of Wyatt Hunter saves her. He is furious with her for ruining his operation but he's even more upset when he can’t get her off his mind. Soon he falls for her--hard. Unfortunately, Winter's heart has been broken and she's too afraid to let anyone in. Does Wyatt have what it takes to get Winter to give love one more try?

Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala

I love how these two characters meet.  Talk about the worst date ever for Winter.  Winter is a great character.  She has a big heart and wants to help others.  The reality of her character is the walls she has built around herself.  She doesn’t trust easily or let others in.
Wyatt is a cop but not what he seems.  I like him instantly.  He wants Winter and refuses to let her push him away.  I love how he waits for her to get to the place where she can accept him fully.
Everyone needs a man and love like that.  Wyatt was my favorite character from the book.  He is damn near perfect.  Totally sigh-worthy.  I like he is a cop which adds to the storyline.  Combine that with Winter trying to keep her students out of the local gang’s hands and you’ve got a bit of outside factors coming together to make things exciting forcing both to evaluate what is truly important.

I like the family dynamics from both characters that add to the mood.  In fact, I didn’t find anything in this book that I didn’t like.  I love the combination of characters, villains, problems to overcome and solutions found.  The relationships were realistic, and the characters’ pasts were believable.  It was a great story and a good start to the series.  I can’t wait to read more about this family.  I give it a 5 out of 5.
