Review & Teasers: Shattered by You (Tear Asunder #3) by Nashoda Rose

Book Blurb & Info

What started out as a deal quickly became a friendship that conquered monsters.

I killed, but I escaped hell.

Emotionless. Disconnected. Cold. A mannequin. It’s what I’d become in order to survive the years held in captivity. I was able to endure the abuse and devastating loss as long as I remained detached.

But he wouldn't let me.

Crisis, the bass guitarist in my brother’s rock band, Tear Asunder. He’s cocky, rude, a total man-whore. But the rock star has far more beneath the surface of his inked skin, and he’s determined to make me laugh again.

He made me a "deal", but really, it was blackmail.

His terms were simple. Until his playful honesty became the building blocks to something unexpected. Something strong enough to pull me from the eye of the storm.

Because even though I escaped years of abuse, it didn’t mean I was free.

Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala

Haven has escaped the hell she has lived for the last several years. She is safe with her brother and his band members, but she is broken. She clings to her numbness and prefers being alone. She also carries a gun in her pocket to feel safe.

Crisis catches her running in a thunderstorm and he learns how she is really doing. So he makes a deal with her. While the band is on tour she has to text him and call her brother regularly or he will spill the beans. Haven refuses to ruin her brother’s happiness. So she agrees.

She feels safe texting Crisis because it isn’t face to face. There is no pressure. As a result she starts letting him in and he becomes her rock. He takes care of her when her past comes back with a vengeance. She completely breaks as her secrets come spilling out. Crisis and Ream learn what really happened to her since she was sixteen. Her shame, guilt and fear drives her to control all aspects of her life. Yet can she give up some control and let Crisis completely into her life? Her strength is put to the test when a stalker comes to light. Her life depends on it.

I love this series. It is very dark and raw. The characters have lived through traumatic events in their lives. Yet they have found each other and formed a bond of family. The band and its notoriety add an interesting dynamic. The rock star life is exactly how Crisis rolls. So Haven and Ream are both leery about Crisis’ motives. He is more than willing to prove himself. I like him instantly. He wants Haven and goes about things carefully. He seems to be the only one with the stable home environment. His family took in Ream and they have been brothers ever since.

The friendship that runs deep in the band members makes the story. They would do anything for each other including Haven. They want to protect her but she is determined to protect them from herself. This is an excellent love story where a broken soul finds exactly what she needs. I give it a 4 out of 5.
