Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala

Cinderella went to the ball thanks to her faerie godmother. She met her prince and then married him. Four years later she is finding that her fairy tale is falling apart. She hardly sees her husband and when she does he is indifferent to her. He no longer loves her if he ever did.

Cinderella feels trapped and longs to go to France. She has yet to produce an heir and the Queen agrees to take her to France if she will see a witch about getting pregnant.

Once there she and her friend Clarissa find happiness spending time with Henri. Josephine has taken them all in since NapolĂ©on is in Egypt. He is off trying to conquer the world. Cinderella is enjoying herself until the Queen comes. She is not sure about seeing the witch. Her faerie godmother tells her not to go but Cinderella fears the Queen’s wrath.

The witch Renee changes Cinderella’s life. She gives her the strength to walk away from the prince and the Queen. She introduces her to her powers and knew her mother. They go on a trip to see the Sisterhood for the Queen. Cinderella has to leave Henri before she tells him her news but Renee needs her to come with her. Along the way she keeps seeing a silver fox and hears from her faerie godmother. Renee wants Cinderella to leave everything she knows and go with her. Cinderella just wants to go back to Henri and her faerie godmother promises to take her back to England.

Everything falls apart. Things are not what they seem and Cinderella must flee from the life she has always known. Her mother’s secrets are revealed and Cinderella must use her strength and bravery to stop the Lord of the Fey.

This story was a bit depressing. I love the story of Cinderella and was sad to see the direction this author took the story. I kept reading to see if she found her happy ever after. Unfortunately in this book she doesn’t because it is one out of three. As I read the story I wanted to strangle the prince and Henri. The men are complete jerks in this story.

It had and interesting turn of events, however, with the silver fox and the Lord of the Fey’s obsession with Cinderella.

So this story is not for the faint hearted. Cinderella loses her happy ever after from meeting the prince at the ball. Then she realizes what her godmother was truly about. I’m not sure how I feel about this story. I was blown away and kept reading to see what else happens to the poor woman. I give it a 3 out of 5.
