Review: Dragon Soul (Dragon Falls #3) by Katie MacAlister

Book Blurb

Sophea Long knows that escorting her octogenarian client to Europe will be an adventure. Mrs. P has a habit of stealing anything shiny, and the former "hoochikoo dancer" is a lot faster than she looks. But Sophea hadn't counted on Mrs. P leading her right into the arms of a smoldering, dark-haired stranger who kisses like a dream. If only he'd give up all this nonsense about Sophea being some kind of dragon...

There's a reason Rowan Dakar is known as the Dragon Breaker. The last thing he needs is to fall for a woman who literally sets him aflame every time they kiss. After all, he has a mission-one that will finally free him of dragonkin for good. He can't afford to be distracted by the funniest, most desirable woman he's ever set eyes on. But no prophecy in the world can ever stop true love . . .

Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala

Sophea finds herself escorting Mrs. P to Germany then on to Cairo for a cruise down the Nile. Her life has taken a downward turn since her husband died and she needs to complete this job.

Rowen is on a mission to find the ring that was stolen from Bael. According to information learned, Mrs. P is suspected of having the ring. However the demon red dragons are also on the hunt. Rowen is surprised to find Sophea traveling with the old woman. He is suspicious of the female red dragon and sticks close to the two. He needs to find the ring. The first dragon has called in for Rowen to help as he is fulfilling his debt.

Sophea has no idea who she is or who her husband was. So when she learns there are dragons she is shocked. She is dragged into the world of demons, dragons and the otherworld. Mrs. P knows more than she admits and Sophea’s attraction to Rowen is unexpected.

Sophea and Rowen have an instant connection but neither is sure what the other is really about. Rowen is determined to get the ring from Mrs. P. Mrs. P is determined to offer the ring to her lover who is in the Egyptian underworld. Sophea wants to deliver Mrs. P to her cruise and finish her job.

As the group races to get to the ring before Bael’s minions, demons get in the way. Sophea meets more dragons than she thought possible. Throw in a demon lord, a head without a body and Egyptian gods and Sophea doesn’t know what to think. She had no idea what this job would entail when she agreed to do it.

I love this author. Her stories are quirky and hilarious. I laugh out loud at her characters and the situations they find themselves in. I also love how she revisits old characters in her books.

Sophea was an awesome character from the start. Loved her immediately. The first scene of the book finds her returning a stolen sex toy was hysterical showing me this was going to be quite the story. The poor woman had the patience of a saint. Mrs. P would have driven me crazy by then.

The author threw in lots of craziness that Sophea and eventually Rowen had to deal with. The dragon world is an entertaining world that the author presents to the readers. This book was fun to read and the journey was full of danger. It came across as light hearted and fun. Definitely a new favorite. I give it a 4 out of 5.
