Review: Awakened (Eternal Guardians #8) by Elisabeth Naughton

Book Blurb

DAMON – For twenty-five years he’s served as a plaything for the gods. With no memory of his past, he has no way of knowing if this is his ultimate fate, but he senses there has to be more to life.

Damon’s hope for more comes in the form of the Sirens’ newest recruit. Elysia is unlike any trainee he’s ever met. Not only can she remember where she came from—an ability the Sirens block—but she has an instant connection to Damon, one he’s never felt and doesn’t understand. Soon Damon is willing to do anything to have Elysia. Even risk the wrath of the gods to break her out of Olympus so he can keep her for himself.

But Damon’s past isn’t a mystery to everyone. Evil forces are at work beneath the surface, and before long, Damon realizes that the connection he shares with Elysia isn’t a random coincidence. His fate—and the darkness it brings—was cemented long ago. And when it is finally revealed, no one will be safe.

Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala

Elysia has been taken by the Sirens to join their ranks against her will.  She is placed on the Island of Pandora to pass seven trials.  There is nothing her family and friends can do at this point to save her without causing a war with the gods.  So they have to wait for their chance.
Elysia’s memory was supposed to be wiped as she becomes a Siren but she starts remembering little bits as time goes along.  During her fifth trial she saves a mystery man, Damon.  He is a trainer sent by Athena.  There is an instant connection between the two.  Damon chooses to stay with her as she finishes the last of her trials.  Then decides to stay close to her as she trains on Olympus.
Zeus and Athena have plans for Damon and Elysia.  When Damon makes himself Elysia’s seduction trainer, things are going as planned.  Elysia is determined to act on her feelings for Damon then get him out of Olympus.  Once they make it to her kingdom of Argolea her battle truly begins.
I like this series.  I’ve read them all so far and like that the author keeps it going with the next generation.  The fight with Zeus is on-going for the Orb.  There is a lot of suspense.  The scheming by the gods causes the Argonauts more problems on top of the political battle that is brewing with the Council.  There is so much intrigue and games being played.
This story centered around Elysia, the heir of the throne.  She is taken by Zeus to train as one of his Sirens.  It was an interesting twist and plan.  Zeus is so conniving that I wasn’t sure what the author was going to throw at me.  I also loved who Damon ends up being.  I remember that part of the series.  It brought things full circle.  His memory wipe just adds to the plot.

Great addition to the series.  The pairing of Damon and Elysia was a fabulous story.  Lots going on and Elysia proved how strong her character is.  A great read.  I give it a 4 out of 5.
