Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala

Cora has been helping souls find closure with Dev’s help.  She and Echo are doing great and have gotten a house together.  She is preparing to tell her parents about her abilities and what Echo really is.  She is also going to tell them that she and Echo are getting married.  She knows it will be difficult to share and she isn’t looking forward to it.
However her parents have things to tell her before she has a chance as they reveal what they are and who she is.  She is an orphan saved and raised by immortals.  Cora is shocked at the revelations and reeling from the lies.  When Eirik reveals who she really is, her shock knows no bounds.
Cora is reeling from the news and fears what will happen when she meets her biological parents.  Echo starts pulling away in reaction and Cora is beside herself.  She is hurt and angry.  Everything is changing quickly.  Dev is given a second chance but it causes dire issues.  Cora travels to Hel to meet her parents wondering what Echo will do.  Her father doesn’t help the cause as he invites suitors to meet her.  Cora is struggling with combining who she thought she was and who she really is together.  The expectations are high and she has big shoes to fill.
I love this series.  I did not see Cora’s story going in this direction.  I truly love her character.  She is sassy and strong.  She and Echo together are my favorite pairing.  He is such a bad boy and she has tamed him which is every girl’s fantasy.  It is truly fun to read their interactions especially when he is being an idiot and she lets him know.  I chuckled out loud at how she showed her annoyance.  Poor Echo didn’t know what to do when the time came to take her to Hel.  I hate when he thought he may not be good enough.  It’s hard for me to read moments like that.  He showed he loved her and took care of her.  What more could anyone ask?

The whole plot to the book was great.  There was some family drama.  The evil soul at the end was a bit surprising.  Didn’t see that coming.  In fact I’m not too sure I truly liked that.  It was a bit anticlimactic from all the build up.  Otherwise I loved the whole book.  I want to see more so I hope it doesn’t end Cora and Echo’s story here.  I give it a 4 out of 5.
