Review: Match Me (Me #1) by Liz Appel

Book Blurb

Bonnie Nichols wasn't the kind of girl to crash a wedding. Or throw things. But somehow, she ends up doing her ex-boyfriend's wedding.

Bonnie has been in love with Chase Somers since elementary school and seeing him at the altar with the absolute wrong girl causes her to do the unthinkable—toss a shoe in his direction in order to try and stop it. But she doesn’t count on the shoe knocking him out. Nor does she count on the entire church knowing it was her who did the throwing. The shoe doesn’t stop the wedding, but it does make her the laughingstock of her town.

As Bonnie copes with both the embarrassment of her actions and the loss of the boy she has always loved, her best friend Jill attempts to yank her out of her despair by pushing her to use Match Me, an online dating service. Despite her skepticism, Bonnie agrees to go on a few dates, dates that end up going comically bad.

Convinced that she will be single forever, an unanticipated complication causes Bonnie to take stock of her life and the people around her. Was she really ever in love with Chase Somers? Or was loving him simply the easy thing to do?

Crashing the wedding—and throwing that shoe—just may end up being the smartest thing she's ever done.

Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala

Bonnie has loved Chase forever.  He is marrying someone else and she is trying to stop the wedding.  Unfortunately it doesn’t work the way she wants.  It is now time to move on and she promises to go on two dates.  The first guy looks like Chase but ends badly.  The second her best friend picks out.  However that was a disaster too.
Throughout the whole fiasco that is her life, Bonnie has had help from Chase’s friend Paul.  He has helped her in several embarrassing situations.  Bonnie has to change how see feels and really try.  Leaving Chase behind will be the best for her.
This novella was fast paced.  You really feel for Bonnie and her broken heart.  Her desperation is sad but relatable.  Who hasn’t felt that way after a hard break up?  It is tough to move on which is Bonnie’s case.

Her luck was not a good thing.  I couldn’t believe some of the situations she found herself in.  It was insane.  This poor young woman couldn’t catch a break the whole time.  That is until the end.  The ending was sweet.  It was predictable but a fun read.  It’s not very long and only took a couple of hours to read.  So if you need something quick I recommend this story.  I give it a 4 out of 5.
